2022 Feast of Tabernacles
Visayas, Philippines
After two years of keeping the Feast of Tabernacles and the Eighth Day at home (2020) and in clustered sites (2021), brethren in the Visayas region of the Philippines have once again been able to celebrate at Baybayon Ni Agalon (The Master’s Shore) in Albuera, Leyte. The resort provided an exclusive nature-inspired environment for Feastgoers giving everyone a beautiful picture of God’s coming Kingdom. With a daily average attendance of 102, brethren of like mind gathered for morning services each day and a whole-day service on the first day and the Eighth Day.
Inspiring messages, beautiful special music and wonderful hymns were shared by everyone. Adding to the thrill and enjoyment, activities included a fellowship night on the first day followed by the children’s day and senior’s socials in which the young as well as the senior members of the church enjoyed a variety of games and activities held within the resort premises. A marriage and family forum for young adults and married couples, conducted by the festival coordinator, explained how God’s standards on marriage are being observed by existing laws in the country.
The youth and singles enjoyed activities including a tour to Lake Danao, one of the scenic tourist attractions in Ormoc City. The eve of the third day was dedicated to a women’s enrichment meeting featuring valuable lessons, stories of encouragement and examples to help the women perform better as part of God’s Church.
The fourth day focused on training the men on how to properly conduct church services with the songleading workshop. The Feast was made more memorable by the “Festival Show,” which showcased talents through dance, songs and other performances pre-recorded and performed live by various members from every congregation in the Visayas.
The Feast would not have been complete without a fun-filled family day which gave everyone a chance to participate in games designed to encourage cooperation and teamwork among members from different church congregations on the fifth day.
A national webcast service joined by all three festival sites in the Philippines along with the festival site in Sabah Malaysia was held during the sixth day in which everyone had an opportunity to listen to an inspiring sermon given by senior pastor of the Philippines, David Dobson.
The seventh day started with a sumptuous breakfast followed by a morning service in which brethren watched the recorded service from Jekyll Island. A festival dinner was served in the evening to celebrate the Eighth Day.
With the guidance, inspiration and protection of the great God Almighty and the active participation of volunteers and different festival committees, the Feast of Tabernacles and the Eighth Day celebration this year was a great success!
