Amidst a wonderful mountain landscape, in the Swiss canton of Glarus, brothers and sisters from Germany, England, France, Italy and Switzerland came to the Mullern Alp to fellowship and absorb God’s Word, undisturbed by worldly influences.

On Sunday, everyone settled in and took a short walk to explore the area. On Monday, we hiked together to the Fronalp-Pass, close to the “Camp Haus.” There was still snow on the summit, which was something special for people from the lowlands. Bible lessons completed the evening.

Although Tuesday brought rain, we were able to swim under the roof of the Linth Arena in Glarnerland at the bottom of the valley, and enjoy sports of all kinds. After a good dinner, we again immersed ourselves in the Bible.

We took private cars on Wednesday to the legendary Klöntalersee and hiked along the southern shore. Some of the people in our group fished and made a fire. On the way back, we marveled at a large waterfall cascading down from the Glärnisch massif. The highlight of the evening was our joint Bible study.

On Thursday, we visited the towns of Weesen on Lake Walen and Rapperswil on Lake Zurich. In Rapperswil we visited the old town with its famous castle and rose garden. At the top of the castle, we viewed the upper and lower parts of Lake Zurich with the two islands and the longest wooden bridge in Switzerland. A joint Bible study crowned the evening.

The Klausen Pass was open on Friday, so we drove to the top, which was almost 2,000 meters (about 6,560 feet) above sea level. There were still three-meter-high (about 9.8-foot) walls of snow on each side of the road. After a short hike, we headed home via the Urnerboden, the largest alp in Switzerland.

On the Sabbath, we drove to Winterthur for the Sabbath meeting of the German-speaking Swiss UCG congregation. It was a great joy for the congregation there to be able to welcome so many brothers and sisters.

After cleaning the house on Sunday, everyone traveled home. We enjoyed the time we spent together and look forward to next time.
