Peacemaker
A peacemaker was a pistol that a person carried. That peace was all too permanent. The Bible tells us that a peacemaker is a person of great value (Matthew 5:9). The greatest title a person or nation can obtain is that of being a peacemaker (Isaiah 52:7). Gaining and holding on to peace is a daunting task with few that have succeeded for any length of time.
Jesus Christ offers peace to humans even while they live in this world (John 14:27). He also offers an everlasting peace that will come about through His return and the enforcement of peace (Isaiah 9:6-7). Most people want peace, but it is illusive and often distant. Being a peacemaker in this world asks a great deal of us. Patience, longsuffering, kindness, understanding and opportunity are just some of the needs. It is not a position of weakness to be branded as a person who loves peace. Strive to be a peacemaker—it is a calling of the highest order.
